About Assistant Coach, Charles Strickland Coach Strickland grew up in the tough streets of Watts and got a college degree while playing basketball. He later worked for NASA as a chemist during the Reagan Administration. Upon retiring from the Federal Government, Strickland spent 10 years as a high school science and math teacher in the High Desert. That is where he met All-Americans head coach Duane Haldeman while both taught and coached at a high school in Palmdale, CA more than 10 years ago. Strickland's nephew, former UCLA forward Dijon Thompson, is currenlty in the NBA. Strickland handles player personnel issues, sideline behavior, and is a consultant for the team. |
