About Assistant Coach, Charles Strickland Coach Strickland hails from South Central Los Angeles. He received his Bachelor's Degree while playing basketball at the now defunct Bishop College in Texas. He later worked for the Department of Energy at the world-famous Lawrence Livermore Laboratory in Northern California as a chemist during the Reagan Administration. Upon retiring from the Federal Government, Strickland spent 10 years as a high school science and math teacher in the High Desert. That is where he met All-Americans head coach Duane Haldeman while both taught and coached at a high school in Palmdale, CA more than 12 years ago. Strickland's nephew, former UCLA forward Dijon Thompson, is currenlty in the NBA. Strickland handles player personnel issues, finances, and is a consultant for the team. |
