About our Head Coach, Duane Haldeman:

Coach Haldeman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), while also holding a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.

Haldeman has been involved with the game of football for 30 years.  As a player, was a contributing member of a college bowl champion in 1990 and has seven other football championships beyond college as a player.  Though injuries limited his college career to less than 3 full seasons, Haldeman was fortunate to have many pro training camp opportunities.

Coach Haldeman had the fortune to cross paths and form a close relationship with the late Kirk Jones while at UNLV  (Jones was a RB at UNLV in the mid 1980's when Randall Cunningham was at QB).  After a brief NFL career, Jones, out of Long Beach Poly and a member of the Poly Athletic Hall of Fame, coached one of the best-ever semi-pro teams in history called the Las Vegas Gamblers from 1991-93.  It was through UNLV, Jones and playing for the Gamblers where Haldeman had pro exposure and upon being invited to pro camps, gained valuable knowledge and skills about the game of pro football to be used as a player and as a coach.  Learning hands-on from legitimate NFL coaches and players was a tremendous gift and is something most coaches never have the opportunity to experience.

Some of the many NFL vets/coaches that Haldeman worked closely with include: QB Randall Cunningham (Eagles, Vikings, Ravens), the aforementioned Kirk Jones (RB-Browns), Super Bowl winning QB Jim McMahon (Bears), Super Bowl winning WR Eric Yarber (Redskins), Super Bowl participant K Frank Corral (LA Rams), DB Anthony “Tony” Blue (Seahawks and AFL), OL Jim Portese (USFL-AZ Wranglers), WR Rickey Watts (Bears), K Vince Abbott (Chargers), P Joe Prokop (49’ers) and QB Babe Parrilli (Jets... and also Joe Namath’s back-up when the Jets won Super Bowl III).

An assistant coach on five champion football teams, including an undefeated CIF season in 1998, Haldeman also won back-to-back State Championships in 1999 and 2000 with the original California Cardinals semi-pro club.  Was a key part of the staff on the Riverside Orangemen that won the championship in the first-ever Staples Center Semi-Pro Arena Tournament in 2002.

Haldeman became a head football coach for the first time in 2004 when he formed the All-Americans.  While never once fielding a team of more than 18 players, he has managed to lead the team to 19 wins while playing teams that average 50 or more players.

With the last seven at Cabrillo High School in Long Beach, Haldeman been a full-time health educator for 15 years.
